c&c please! http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/trollsarehot/Doug6.jpgdefinately too much hard light. blown out about 50% of the picture.?? what do you like about this picture? It sort of looks like a mug shot :(I'm sorry but I really can't see anything special in this photo at all.Well, I haven't seen a portrait like this in a while... I'm not sure that's good. Sorry. If you want it blunt, it's simply awful. I can't find even 1 redeeming quality about it. Pose is bad, as stated above it looks like a mug shot. The lighting is way too strong. What was your intention with this pic? It's very unflattering to the subject. You should quickly put a copy right on this photo and send it to Vogue.I'm not going to pretend I know something I don't;...... - 2008-12-17

Kinda cool (http://www.fightingarts.com/reading/article.php?id=403). I just found part 2 (http://www.fightingarts.com/reading/article.php?id=405). Some comments in the Why are UA & AC so much $$ LAX-YYZ? If so, How often? I will go first. One Westjet flight under my belt. I would fly them again if the price was right (i.e. cheaper than AC) or if the schedule was better. » OT: Discovery Wings Channel to become The Military Channel

As of January 10th, the general aviation DISCOVERY WINGS digital TV channel will become THE MILITARY CHANNEL, focusing solely on documentaries and movies about the military. As this channel originates in the USA, one can pretty much expect it to be a mouthpiece for the Pentagon. However, for those with an interest in Civil Aviation, one of the last sets of special programs will air this Thursday from 8p to 11p ET, featuring a look at the A380, Luxury Jets, and the final flight of Concorde. As I mull this over with my pint of Guinness in the MLL lounge in YYZ I find myself yearning for the days when the specialty channels didn't go much beyond Discovery, A&E, and TSN. The Alaska Airlines website shows that at SeaTac in addition to Terminal C and D, they're also using gates N 6, 7and 11 in the North Terminal. Is there any rhyme or reason as to which flights are using the N gates or is it whenever gates are needed and one isn't available at C or D? Are some flights routinely using N terminal? Does anyone know if flights AS 401 and 558, the MD80 service to/from SEA to Boise are consistently using the same gates and if so which? This leads to another question, "Flight Status" on Alaska's website shows arrival and departure times but not the gates involved. Is there anywhere on Alaska's website or elsewhere on the web that shows the gate for a particular AS flight? And finally, can you get from the boardro...... - 2008-12-17

» Life after monogamy!! "One-flight-stands" here I come!

Hi All: I have decided to give up my fidelity to NW after being a top tier elite member since 1995. I will still continue to fly (approx. 100000) miles a year, but will make choice of carrier on the basis of best fit with my needs at the time of ticketing, rather than trying to maximize elite qualifying miles. I am close to PHL/EWR (about 120 miles) and have even closer access to ABE (80 miles), BGM (80 miles) and AVP (15 miles). I have been factoring a 160 mile road segment (RT between my home and ABE) into all flights since 1995 in order to fly NW. I would like to hear from any and all of you who may have some experience with a similar strategy. I will keep my FF membership in all possible carriers and will simply use miles accumulated...... - 2008-12-17

» 734/73G Interchangeable? Meals by Status?

Ok, two unrelated questions from my travels today. Are the 734 and 73G interchangeable? I arrived at PHX today expecting a 734, and was pleasantly suprised to find a 73G. Much better seats in F. Do they block the last 3 rows till they really really need them? Second, is AS doing F meals by status now? This was the first time I have experienced that. Being a lowly MVP and the second to last to be upgraded, I was left with the sandwhich. That suited me fine, but usually I am able to OFFER to take whatever is left, rather than getting stuck with it! :) Just curious. Thanks to everyone for their informative posts. » YVR AIF Announcement Feb 26th

Hi all, I have heard some rumblings that there will be a media event on Feb 26th announcing that the YVR AIF will no longer be charged at the point of departure. The tentative date for the phased in roll-over is supposed to be June 1. So after the announcement, anyone buying a ticket for post June 1 will have the AIF included on their ticket. I have it on good authority (though these things are never for sure!) that CX has already begun charging the AIF for post June 1 departures. Anyone having recently bought a CX ticket I would be interested to hear from to confirm whether or not this part is true... JThe CX part is not true, just go price out a ticket on any website and you'll see that taxes before and after June 1 is identical (if far...... - 2008-12-17

» GridPanel Sort

I have a question concerning the sort in a GridPanel with a PagingToolbar. I want to use the “internal” sort (defined by the sortable attribute) only when I am on page 1 of my grid. When I’m on a higher page, I want to get the sorted data from a server, display them in the grid and reset the paging toolbar to page 1. To do this, I’ve overwritten some functions in the PagingToolbar and everything works fine on this level. The only problem is with the internal sort, because when I click on a column header (and I’m on a page higher than page 1), I get back the already sorted data from the server, but then a second sort happens (due to the header click). And the second sort is once ASC and once DESC. So, ideally ...... - 2008-12-17

Actually if you check closely that happens only for a second and the speed drops instantly to normal speeds, only the number falls down slowly. There is no way you can harness that unless you opt to go for a higher speed connection. can anyone tell me why any scanned image file of 600 dpi occupies a huge space of my 200 mb on my new benq scannerAny digital image, whether scanned or otherwise, is an arrangement of small square blocks or dots called pixels. The smaller the pixel, the finer the image; but the total number of pixels is greater. dpi = dots per inch. The higher the dpi you use to scan an image, the more bits of information it records, resulting in a larger file size. To be more precise : Suppose you scan an image of 2"x2" size. » Need Help with new LHR Leisure-A fare with 2005 sswu!

I want to book a flight flying to LHR next week. The A fare comes up as Leisure - A fare. From what I can read in AC websites, this fare can be UG. My question: can I use my 2005 SSWU for this new A fare. Some clarification will be helpful, esp. if I can print out from the AC official websites, so that the check-in agent would have nothing to confuse about. Thanks so much for the FT!Are you saying the fare class comes up as A??? You can use 2005 u/g certs up to the end of February 2006. If using a SWU you need to book a fare class of H or higher (B, M, Y). Does this help? Do you know the fare class?I want to book a flight flying to LHR next week. » Role of the media in emphasizing racial discrimination

Tonight, the news on NHK raised two issues in relation with "the problem of foreigners in Japan". The first one was basically to blame the US military base at Yokosuka for interfering with Haneda Airport's radio waves, thus troubling the navigation system of planes landing there. The second was about a group of Koreans placing cameras just above UFJ Bank's ATM to record the PIN codes of ATM customers. This in itself is not a problem. But why out of today's numerous headlines in other news agencies (BBC, CNN, Japan Times...) did they choose those two relatively minor and local issues on the national TV channel, and why did they spend as much time as or more time than on big international issues, such as the earthquake relief in Pakistan,...... - 2008-12-17

» Rooms in Jerusalem

Have the recently escalating tensions in Israel caused more people from Northern Israel to head southward and stay in hotel rooms? They've been quite expensive in Jerusalem of late, from my experience. For example, I have been seeking an inexpensive room to rent, either in a hotel/hostel/personal home from Aug9-14. No luck so far through the usual channels, best price I've found was $47.50 per night. Does anyone have a recommendation?I just returned from Israel. Fortunately, I had used points for all my rooms - but even the hotel in Eilat (usually offering big discounts and promos this time of year) emailed me a few days prior to arrival to confirm I'd be showing up. It was very crowded down there. Jerusalem and Tel Aviv were busy but...... - 2008-12-17

Does anybody know how I can get the damage survey for the Mulvane KS tornado from 06/12/04? I don't recall what the SPC rated this tornado at? (F3?). I'm interested in seeing if this tornado had a typical SW-NE track or if it went NW-SE. It seems like I've seen a lot of storm chase videos that shows the tornado from the south. The one exception I know of, Jason Pollite/Scott Blair, had a video that seems to show the tornado from a western perspective. In the later stage of that particular video (found on "Storm Chase 2004 Timeless Journey"), you can see the chasers tracking the tornado while driving thru the damage path of that storm. Any information you can give me would help a lot. Thanks. 8) LJK.Here you will find information...... - 2008-12-17

Theres a weird problem with my pc, it was working fine till i thought of taking out the vaccum cleaner and cleaning the whole pc, i opened the cabinet and took off the hdd's ide cables, cleaned the cab and closed. But when i tried to boot the pc it gave me the boot failure error. I thought it was because of loose connection of the ide cable, but everything was fine and secure, it happened to me before 2-3 times whenever i cleaned the pc disconnecting the ide cables and taking out the hdd, so just when i was experimenting everything possible an idea came into my mind and i placed the hdd in its slot upside down and it worked, afterwards i tried placing in correct position, but to my dismay it again gave the boot failure error.
